Last year the
Wisconsin Precision
Metalworking
Council (WPMC)
implemented the BotsIQ
program in local High Schools Bots IQ
is a robotic education program inspired by the popular BattleBots TV
show. Students build 15lb combat Bots and test their design and
durability
by competing against other Bots. It's a fun hands-on program for
students to learn Cad design, mechanical
engineering, electronics, pneumatics, etc.
This
past October local high schools held a competition during the Wisconsin
Machine Tool Show. In order to help promote the program WPMC member
companies were invited to build their own Bots and compete against the
other shops. This launched the first annual "Shop-Bots" competition.
J.P. Pattern's bot "Studley Do-Right"
was fortunate to be undefeated and has
become the "reigning champ" Therefor we are currently the proud
recipients of the traveling "Shop-Bots"
trophy.
